CARSTAR has awarded its first CARSTAR Academy Scholarship to Centennial College autobody student Hekmatull Ahahmadi. The presentation took place at CARSTAR Toronto Millwick in Toronto.

The scholarship is part of CARSTAR’s new national initiative aimed at promoting careers in the collision repair trades. Earlier in the year, the company visited colleges across Canada through its CARSTAR Days outreach, providing students with information about industry career paths and labour demand. The scholarship phase recognizes students from four partner institutions: Centennial, Algonquin, Fanshawe and Mohawk colleges. Eight students in total will be selected.

Ahahmadi, a final-year student, received a $1,500 scholarship and a Milwaukee tool kit valued at $530. During his visit to the facility, he toured the repair operations and met with a recent Centennial graduate working at the location.

Shop owner Ralph Andreacchi said the visit offered staff an opportunity to speak with a student preparing to enter the trade. CARSTAR Canada Senior Director Collin Welsh noted that the program is intended to support students pursuing long-term careers in collision repair.

The remaining scholarship recipients from the partner colleges are expected to be announced in the coming months.
