AkzoNobel and Axalta to be called Axanzo following merger

The planned merger is expected to create a global coatings leader, with closing anticipated in early 2027

Oct. 15, 2026 — AkzoNobel and Axalta Coating Systems have announced Axanzo as the name of the combined company following completion of their planned merger.

Announced in November 2025, the merger is intended to create a global coatings leader with an expanded reach and portfolio to support growth and innovation. The combined company is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange and Euronext Amsterdam under the ticker symbol AXZ.

Greg Poux-Guillaume, AkzoNobel’s CEO, will lead the combined organization. Chris Villavarayan, Axalta’s CEO, will serve as deputy CEO.

Poux-Guillaume said the Axanzo name marks a new beginning for a company that aims to strengthen its position through innovation, operational capabilities, and growth.

Villavarayan said the name embodies the companies’ shared goal of advancing coatings technology while honoring their distinct histories.

The combined business is expected to bring together a diversified portfolio of about 100 established brands across paints and coatings, with operations spanning more than 160 countries.

Both companies will continue to operate independently until the merger closes, which is expected in early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

The announcement does not change how customers and business partners work with either company. Both will continue to serve customers through their existing teams, brands, and business relationships until closing.
