Mitchell, Tractable Plan: Automated Vehicle Inspection and Estimating Integration

The proposed integration would connect Tractable’s LumaScanner with Mitchell Intelligent Estimating to streamline vehicle intake and preliminary damage assessments.

SEMA – Nov. 5, 2026 — Mitchell and Tractable are planning to expand their collaboration through a proposed exclusive agreement that would connect Tractable’s LumaScanner automated vehicle inspection system with Mitchell Intelligent Estimating.

The planned integration aims to help North American multi-shop operators (MSOs) and independent collision repair facilities speed up vehicle intake, damage assessment, and preliminary estimate creation.

LumaScanner automatically inspects vehicles as they are driven or towed through the system, producing a consistent, time-stamped condition report and a set of vehicle images. Once integrated with Mitchell’s cloud-based platform, the inspection data could generate a preliminary estimate through Mitchell Intelligent Estimating for an appraiser to review and edit.

The proposed system gives collision repairers another option for documenting vehicle damage, complementing Mitchell’s existing mobile photo-capture capabilities. Shops could use either a physical inspection system or a digital intake process, depending on their requirements.

The companies say the integration is intended to improve the quality and completeness of preliminary estimates by providing consistent vehicle images and condition information. The automated process could also reduce the time required to document damage and prepare an initial estimate.

“Every decision about a vehicle, whether to service it, repair it or sell it, depends on knowing its true condition,” said Venkat Sathyamurthy, CEO of Tractable. He said connecting LumaScanner with Mitchell’s technology would extend the value of automated vehicle inspections into the collision estimating process.

“Our goal is to help collision repairers simplify the vehicle intake process by connecting innovative technologies that are designed to optimize key steps in the workflow,” said Olivier Baudoux, senior vice-president of global product strategy and artificial intelligence at Mitchell. He said the combination of automated inspection, proprietary data, and Mitchell’s cloud-based platform is intended to improve productivity and reduce workflow delays.

The companies plan to demonstrate the technologies at the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Mitchell is exhibiting at booth 35171 in the South Upper Hall, while Tractable will demonstrate LumaScanner at booth 44263 in the Lower South Hall.
