New product range combines more than 140 years of original OEM colour history with modern Sikkens paint technology for restoration shops, custom builders, and automotive enthusiasts.
Nov. 3, 2026 — AkzoNobel has introduced Modern Vintage, a new automotive refinish product line that combines historic original equipment manufacturer (OEM) colours with modern paint technology from its Sikkens brand.
Developed in partnership with custom vehicle builder and television personality Dave Kindig, the line gives restoration shops, professional builders, and automotive enthusiasts access to an extensive collection of factory colours spanning more than 140 years of automotive history.
Modern Vintage is available exclusively through TCP Global, whose Auto Color Library provides the historic colour references used to develop the paint formulas. Its colour laboratory mixes, fills, and ships orders directly to customers.
Bringing historic colours back to life
Modern Vintage allows users to search for original factory colours by vehicle year, make, model, and OEM paint code. The collection includes colours from classic American vehicles, as well as rare international models.
TCP Global’s Auto Color Library maintains a collection of original OEM paint chips and formulas dating back to the early 1900s. The company’s colour laboratory uses these references to reproduce historic finishes and prepare orders.
While the colour formulations draw on automotive history, the technology behind the products is contemporary. Each Modern Vintage formulation uses Sikkens refinish technology, bringing modern performance, durability, and finish quality to restoration and custom paint projects.
Founded in 1792, Sikkens is an established brand in the global automotive refinishing industry.
The new line is intended to give restoration professionals and custom builders access to historically accurate factory colours without sacrificing the performance expected from a modern refinish system.
