As Christmas approaches, it is a time of giving and helping others that grows in importance for many of us.
For Samuel Cochrane, the interim CEO of AutoCanada, it is about raising awareness and research funding for those with lupus.
“I’m proud to be supporting Walk Your Way for Lupus, a movement dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for the BC Lupus Society,” says Cochrane. “Every step we take helps support people living with lupus and fuels research, education, and advocacy across our province.”

Lupus occurs when the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.
Lupus can be difficult to diagnose because its signs and symptoms often mimic those of other ailments. The most distinctive sign of lupus — a facial rash that resembles the wings of a butterfly unfolding across both cheeks — occurs in many but not all cases of lupus.
While there’s no cure for lupus, treatments can help control symptoms.
“If you’re able, I’d be grateful for your support,” says Cochrane. “Even a small donation makes a meaningful difference.”
The window to donate closes on November 30.
