FutureTech Studio Looks at Tomorrow’s Aftermarket Today

The FutureTech Studio has been drawing attendees at the SEMA Show to learn about what tomorrow’s aftermarket technology is going to look like.

Exploring the four core themes of mobility: fuels, drivetrains, technology and manufacturing, the booth located in the Central Hall of the show in Las Vegas, Nev. had something for everyone, from multi-million-dollar prototypes to breakthroughs created in the garage.

Examples of next generation vehicles using hydrogen power include the Honda CR-V, and an ethanol-powered Bisimoto. In fact, existing vehicles that have been converted to run on electric power – even a “flying car” from Pivotal – are on display and drawing attention from those on hand.

Artificial intelligence (AI), advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and connected platforms are popular topics of discussion, with dedicated education sessions and panels held in the FutureTech booth to examine how these advances are shaping the future of collision repair.

“The FutureTech Studio serves as a learning hub for the folks that are not in this exhibit, to the traditional aftermarket manufacturer,” said SEMA Director of Vehicle Technology and Product Development Luis Morales. “They get a chance to come in here and understand there’s something changing here, or there’s a new way to develop a product, or there’s new tool, new materials.”
