MOTOR upgrades automotive data platform to improve speed and connectivity

Next Gen Data-as-a-Service architecture delivers faster responses, fewer API calls, and expanded connections between repair, parts, and labour information.

SEMA Nov. 3, 2026 — MOTOR Information Systems has introduced Next Gen Data-as-a-Service (DaaS), an upgraded data architecture designed to help automotive software providers access repair information more quickly and connect related vehicle data more efficiently.

The enhancements are intended to simplify how technology providers incorporate MOTOR’s automotive information into their software applications, giving users improved access to labour times, parts information, and repair procedures.

The upgraded architecture focuses on three areas: performance, data organization, and connectivity.

Faster response times and fewer application programming interface (API) calls allow applications to retrieve information more efficiently. Additional sorting options give software developers greater control over how results are displayed, while expanded bidirectional data relationships make it easier to navigate between related information.

For example, applications can move between labour information, parts data, and repair procedures from multiple starting points, rather than following a single lookup path.

“When a customer’s application needs automotive information, accessing the right data and connecting it to the next step in the workflow matter,” said Mark Hirn, product portfolio manager at MOTOR. “Next Gen DaaS helps our technology partners retrieve the information they need more quickly and with fewer API calls, while giving them greater control over result ordering and more ways to navigate related content.”

Supporting connected repair information

Next Gen DaaS builds on MOTOR’s investment in delivering automotive data directly into customer software and business workflows.

For automotive software developers, improved access to connected repair information can help create applications that bring together vehicle-specific procedures, parts requirements, and labour information. This is particularly relevant as modern vehicles become more complex and repair facilities increasingly depend on accurate technical information to plan and complete repairs.

MOTOR is discussing the upgraded architecture with technology providers and data customers at AAPEX 2026, including how the improvements can support their software integration requirements.
